RAM Trucks, RAM for short, was introduced to the world as Chrysler's RAM Truck Division in the 1930s. The American truck brand started its humble beginning as a maker of light to mid-weight trucks. Over time, RAM evolved into a brand synonymous with everything commercial and heavy-duty in the trucking world.

History of Ram Trucks 

In 1918, the Dodge Brothers produced their first truck for commercial use. It had additional space for carrying goods and was powered by a four-cylinder engine. These trucks became popular in rural America, where they were used for farm work and transportation due to their off-road capability. In the 1990s, RAM Trucks went through an overhaul. The company produced updated engines and new designs during this process.

 

RAM Trucks turned into a stand-alone brand in 2009. Today, the company produces various commercial vehicles and heavy-duty trucks, including the RAM 3500, RAM 2500, RAM 1500, and RAM 4500. Routine Maintenance 

From pickup trucks to a regular quad cab, each vehicle requires maintenance to keep it running at its best. Here’s the routine maintenance schedule for RAM vehicles: 

Monthly (Or Before Long Trips)

Check the following:

• Engine oil levels
• Tire pressure
• Fluid levels (brake fluid, coolant reservoir, transmission fluid, and power steering fluid)
• Interior/exterior lights

6 Months (Or Every 8,000+ Miles)

• Change the engine oil filter and engine oil
• Rotate the tires

12 Months (Or Every 16,000 Miles)

• Inspect engine air cleaner filter (for off-road use)
• Replace AC filter
• Inspect the brake linings, exhaust system, and front suspension 

18 Months (Or Every 24,000 Miles) 

• Inspect the exhaust system and the CV joints

24 Months (Or Every 32,000 Miles)

• Replace spark plugs for 2.4L engines

36 Months (Or Every 48,000 Miles)

• Replace the following if loose or damaged: boot seals, tie rod ends, and front suspension

48 Months (Or Every 64,000 Miles)

• Change the automatic transmission fluid (and its filter) if you use your truck for frequent trailing towing, fleet, taxi, or police operations

54 Months (Or Every 72,000 Miles)

• Inspect the air conditioning filter and brake linings

60 Months (Or Every 80,000 Miles)

• Flush the engine coolant and replace it

72 Months (Or Every 96,000 Miles)

• Replace the spark plugs for 3.6 and 2.4L engines
• Inspect the PCV valve and replace it if necessary

78 Months (Or Every 104,000 Miles)

• Flush the engine coolant and replace it if you didn’t do it at the 60-month mark
